From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within the urban setting.
Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Revealed
Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of characters who will branch out from the main group to begin their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.
This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the individual narratives before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose death initiated the story’s plot—used the enemy for his own means, entering the hidden lair, striking Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to sell off.
The antagonist then cleared his obligations and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each member has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires revenge.
- The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile location.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- But, their position as key figures in the powerful family could assist the party reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The fighter swore a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city too risky:
- The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the clan.
This means them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in search of the traitor.
Future Episodes
According to episode three’s post-show segment, we discover that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Seekers and Schemers groups.
Audiences can look forward to learning which players will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
